I certainly agree when we say:

"Keep it simple."

But less is not necessarily better. It also depends on who will use your dashboard.
And how people are used to reading it.

When you create a chart, you already know why this one, the question behind it, and you get the answer once finished.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone opening the dashboard for the first time.

He has to take the journey from scratch.

To understand, dimension, measure, if a high value is good or bad, etc.


The first thing is to make an effortless understanding of any data visualization.

Figures are just figures, and people don't need to deal with absolute numbers without context.

It could be where you start, you end, you aim to complete, and what has helped you reach this point. Or how do you compare with any other period or competitor?

Easy to do better than nothing. 😉
